Kayla Vernelson

Mrs. Kayla Vernelson was born and raised in Martin County. She grew up right here in Jamesville, NC where she attended Jamesville Elementary, Jamesville Middle, Jamesville High, until they consolidated schools into Riverside High School where she then graduated in 2013. She began at the Northeast Regional School of Biotechnology and Agriscience in 2024 as the School Medical Support. She graduated from Edgecombe Community College with an Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy in 2018. She has several years of experience in the hospital setting but has now joined the NERSBA staff. She has obtained many certifications such as CPR, BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS. Mrs. Vernelson helps many students with their maintenance care for chronic illnesses along with any emergencies that arise at NERSBA. Mrs. Vernelson loves spending time with her family. She married her husband, James in 2018 and since then had one handsome son, Watson. She enjoys working at the hospital on the weekends, hosting gatherings for family and friends, traveling to the mountains or the beach, riding the golf cart around the family farm, and drinking lots of Pepsi. She is excited to be a part of the NERSBA Early College Family.  Mrs. Vernelson wants each student and their family to know her door is always open and she is always happy to help!
